The Wiltern is a gorgeous venue with exactly the kind of scale I love: intimate enough to feel close to the artist, substantial enough for a major show, and filled with old Los Angeles character. I saw Nas and Lauryn Hill here, and Nas was incredible as always: low-key, smooth, and somehow cooler every time I see him, including several other shows in New York over the years. Lauryn was struggling at the time and came on late enough that I had already left, but I wasn’t angry; I felt for her, enjoyed Nas enough that the night was already a success, and hoped she would find the help, peace, and healing she needed. Blessings to Lauryn, the entire Fugees crew, and to a beautiful theater with a cool crowd and a true OG onstage.
Gorgeous art deco venue! Recently saw Stephen Sanchez here and had a great experience. The parking lot (right by the venue) was expensive - around $37 for event parking on a Friday evening, so next time I would just use a ride share service.
